SURAKUNTA
 
															Surakunta is a small village with 34 families and a total population of 440 members (219 men and 221 women). The village has a large youth and working-age population, showing strong potential for growth. Adopted under the FFVDP project, Surakunta is undergoing steady development with a focus on: Improving agriculture and livelihoods Promoting education and skills for children and youth Strengthening healthcare and nutrition Empowering women Upgrading basic infrastructure With these initiatives, Surakunta is progressing towards becoming a self-reliant and model village.

1. Leadership
 
															During the year 2020–2021, several important activities were carried out to strengthen community participation and organizational growth. Regular VDC meetings were conducted to discuss village development issues and plan collective actions. Training programs for VDC members were organized to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills. Staff capacity building sessions were undertaken to improve efficiency and ensure better facilitation of field-level activities. In addition, VDC and FDG exposure programs were arranged to provide members with practical learning experiences from other successful initiatives. Periodic review meetings were held to assess progress and address challenges. Gramasabha meetings were facilitated to ensure community involvement in decision-making processes. Furthermore, important developments and success stories were highlighted through newspaper articles, thereby increasing public awareness and visibility of the initiatives.

During the afternoon session, Fr. Prashanth emphasized the importance of regularly conducting meetings in the village. Sr. Srujana spoke about the roles and responsibilities of VDC, while Miss. Sai Prasanna discussed the collection of VDC funds and bookkeeping. | VDC Exposure program in Anakapalli (SVDS) | On June 28-29, 2023, a two-day exposure training program was conducted by taking all Village Development Council (VDC) members and staff to Sharadha Vikasa Development Samithi (SVDS) in Anakapalli. The training covered essential topics, including debt management, revolving loans, the importance of savings, and local history. This exposure resulted in increased community savings. Following the training, individuals gained valuable knowledge about the significance of saving money, and the VDC actively motivated villagers to contribute to VDC funds for savings. The two-day program, facilitated by resource person Karri Joginaidu, Chairperson of SVDS, included a session on the history of SVDS and micro-savings on the first day. On the second day, a field visit to nearby villages of Anakapalli allowed interaction with villagers regarding micro-savings. Inspiring stories were shared, such as village women starting with rupees 2 savings and now leading 120 self-help groups with a turnover of 77 crores. | 7 VDC members have participated in the exposure visit at Anakapalli and gained knowledge. +The VDC is collecting a 30-rupees fund for savings from each family. |

2. Education
 
															During the project, various educational initiatives were carried out to support children, youth, and adults. Orientation programs were organized for children and youth, and a remedial center was established to help slow learners. Anganwadi centers were strengthened with learning materials and playthings, while school children received sports materials. Events like Children’s Day and Balamela encouraged creativity and participation. Exposure visits were arranged for children and youth to gain practical learning experiences. Skill development and vocational trainings, including support for a garment shop, were provided to promote livelihoods. Spoken English classes improved communication skills, and adult education programs enhanced literacy among elders

| Conducted Balamela | On November 30, 2023, we held a Balamela event in Chimilivagu where all FFVDP children participated. We invited Mr. Thatisrimamulu, a government headmaster with 15 years of experience, to speak to the children about their role in societal development. He shared insights on good habits and his own career journey. Various competitions and games were organized, with active participation from the children. They won prizes and learned important habits such as helping each other, maintaining cleanliness, and attending school regularly. Prizes were distributed to the winners and runners-up. +On March 16, we organized another Balamela event focused on talent testing, which served as an encouraging platform for the children. Again, all FFVDP children took part. The talent test was conducted, and afterward, the children shared their knowledge and performed action songs. Prizes were awarded to the best-performing students, and those Children who were not doing as well were encouraged by their friends. | On November 30th, a total of 24 children from our FFVDP villages participated, with 24 children from surakunta. We organized 6 games, and all the children took part in different ones. Among the 24 surakunta children, 19 won prizes. +n March 16th, 7 children participated. 3. Health Care
 
															FFVDP Project is dedicated to transforming the health and well-being of remote tribal communities through a comprehensive approach that includes health awareness programs, mobile clinics, and medical camps. They facilitate access to clean water with borewells and solar water tanks, promote nutrition through food security initiatives for expectant and lactating mothers, and encourage sustainable practices like kitchen gardens. Additionally, the NGO addresses basic infrastructure needs with shelter repairs and construction of toilets, ensuring holistic development and empowering communities towards long-term health and resilience.

Due to the remote nature of these villages, participants initially had limited knowledge about WASH behavior. Participants are now informed about seasonal diseases, and women and adolescent girls have been educated on maintaining good hygienic practices during menstruation.
